PS 83 belong to
Book III of the
Book of PS composed of a collection of texts 150 arranged by 5 poetry books. The Book of Psalms, for its
wisdom and
basic principles of human
action , is considered the heart of the Old Testament. Book III encompasses Psalms 73 to 89 . The
PS 83 is divided into 19 verses.
The Psalms are
poems-prayers addressed to God, being the privileged way to address and speak to Him. These prayers represent

Psalm 83 - The Enemies of God's People

2 O God, be not silent;
do not be mute or impassive, O God!
3 See how your enemies stir
and lift their heads those who hate you.
4 They devise cunning plans against your people
and conspire against your protდ©gდ©s.
5 They say, "Walk! Let us exterminate them as a people!
And never again shall the name of Israel be remembered."
6 So they decided by common accord
and formed an alliance against you:
7 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Agarenes,
8 Gebal, Amon, and Amalek,
the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre.
9 Even the Assyrians joined with them,
and they were the arm of the sons of Lot.
10 Treat them as you did to Madian and Sisera,
as to Jabin on the shore of Quichon.
11 They were destroyed in En-dor, they
were used as fertilizer for the lands.
12 He treats his princes like Oreb and Zeeb;
and all their chiefs like Zeba and Salmuna.
13 For they had declared,
"Let us take the fields of God for us."
14 O my God, cast them into the whirlwind,
like chaff blown by the wind,
15 like the fire that devours the forest
and like the flame that sets the mountains on fire.
16 Pursue them with your storm;
torment them with your whirlwind!
17 Cover their faces with ignominy;
and then may they seek thy name, O Lord.
18 Be confused and shaken forever,

Meaning and interpretation
The
Psalm 83 is a
collective prayer of petition addressed to God to
protect the people of Israel . The main enemy whose threats are sensed could be the Assyrians. In fact, the Psalm hints at having been composed before the exile.
As systematically happens with texts of this kind, the arguments and images adduced to justify
God's protection consist of a review of the
wonders performed by Him in the past.
The number of peoples referred to in verses 7 to 9 serves to configure the variety of enemies who oppose God and his people. It is a symbolic agglomeration in which all the memories of war with its neighbors that the Israelis preserved are summarized.
The
Psalms of Supplication are very present in the Book of Psalms. They speak of human frailty and the most basic feelings of your mortal condition. Times of peace and plenty

state of mind of trust and end in
thanksgiving . The Psalmist cries out to God for his help and forgiveness in a profound expression of limitless
trust in divine compassion and justice. Even the cry of the Psalmist is already a fighting speech, change will, of inner transformation, confidence and hope for a
free future evil, the
suffering and the
wicked .

Book of Psalms is composed of a collection of 150 poetic texts and is divided into five parts, called Psalm Books or Booklets. Each Book closes with short
hymns of praise to God . The division into five parts was considered to correspond to the five books of Moses and it is assumed that each passage in the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible, called Torah by the Jews) was read in parallel with the corresponding Psalm. Its main forms are

gratitude .

walk with our God . For many theologians, the Book of Psalms has a prophetic or messianic tone as its verses refer to the coming of Christ into the world of men to guide them through the uncertainty and doubts of Human existence.
The
prayer has the power to call the
Spiritual Universe full mode, honest, sincere, conscious, for the purpose of spiritual self-protection, family protection and those who are dear to us, to have peace of mind, spiritual and physical, for prosperity and success, to protect health and relationships, to ward off negative energies and, above all, to connect us to something bigger than ourselves. From this
peace , well-being, hope and goodness in front of everyone and everything result.
